I came across this web page http://superheroshogi.blogspot.com/2009 ... shogi.html which has the engine for this years(2009) World Champion Program.

Not sure how to add it as an engine for BCMSHogi though.

The only docu about this is here: Adding other USI engines to BCM Shogi?

But if you like playing, I would suggest Shogidokoro.
BCMShogi was made for analyzing and there are a few miss for playing (for example no ponder).

I got it from Petit Shogi, but I uploaded it to 81SU. You can download it here:

Bonanza, Blunder, GPSshogi, Laramie, Spear, ssp, TJshogi, ...

It's all the same: you have to configure, which EXE to run. ;)

Bernhard, do you know whether or not BCMShogi runs on Windows 7? I'll be getting a new PC soon with that OS and it would be a shame to have to keep using my laptop for BCMShogi.

Not any idea.
I'm still don't use Windows vista and never plan using it.

But Windows 7 should have a compability-mode with which you should be able to run XP programs.
By the way, this mode is nothing else than a virtual machine. ;)

Furthermore you can create your own virtual machine (software is free available).

So just to confirm all the other parameters in the settings.ini are the same i.e.
Infinite=1
MoveListIfPossible=0
ExtraCMD=setoption name Resign value 32596|setoption name StrictTime
value false
AnalyzeMode=2
PlayMode=2

Just need to point to different exe

I am trying to enter a game from "Shogi for beginners" into BCMShogi. I get so far and save the the state in a USF file. Trouble is were I have made a mistake and then subsequently correct the move. When I load usf file it plays as though I made the first i.e. mistake move. Would I do better with a different format?

I'm running it in Windows 7. I don't remember having to enable compatibility mode, but one way or another it does work! :)

(PS: I can also highly recommend Windows 7, even as a very long term Linux user.)
